The Fantasy Tropes Book Tag

I found this book tag on Lost in Neverland, and it looked fun, so I decided to give it a try!

Rules

  • Mention the creator (the lovely one’s peculiar)
  • Answer the questions
  • Tag as many people as you like
  • Have fun

The Lost Princess — A book/series you lost interest in halfway through

The Wicked Years Series, which goes over Elphaba (the Wicked Witch of the West) and Liir, her son. I wanted to like this series since it has interesting worldbuilding, but the pacing made it hard to keep reading.

The Knight in Shining Armor — A hyped book/series you were swept up by

I have a few recent ones:

The Wise Old Wizard — An author who amazes you with Their writing

Marie Lu! I love reading Marie Lu’s work. I always love her books.

Her and Neal Shusterman are my top two authors.

The Maiden in Distress — An undervalued character you wished had a bigger storyline

Taryn in The Folk of the Air series is the first one who comes to mind. She has an interesting arc, but I feel like a lot of her arc happened off page.

The Magical Sword — A magical item/abilities you wish authors used less

I’m not sure. I don’t have anything that comes to mind that I wish authors would use less. I kinda like all the magical items/abilities because every author seems to use them in a different way. (At least the ones I’ve read have.)

The Mindless Villain — A phrase you cannot help but roll your eyes at

Shrugged their shoulders. I don’t believe we have to say their shoulders. Like what else do we shrug?

That and I’m not the biggest fan of the released a breath I didn’t realize I was holding.

The Untamed Dragon — A magical creature you wish you had as a pet

If you couldn’t guess by the fact I have an editing business called Dragon Editing Services, I want a dragon. Actually, make it five dragons.

I love a lot of magical creatures that look less humanlike. Less merfolk and fairies and more hippogriffs, nymphs, phoenixes, etc.

The Chosen One — A book/series you will always root for

The Young Elites Series by Marie Lu and Fire Becomes Her by Rosiee Thor.

I’ve also really enjoyed Chronicles of the Guardians Series by Rita A. Rubin lately.
