Thank you, P.D. Alleva, for giving me a copy of the book in exchange for a fair review!
The Rose Vol II picks up right where Vol I left off. Sandy is still trying to find her missing son, but a transformation also takes place as she becomes less and less sure of who she is. She also gets mixed up in Drac politics while in their custody. No one gives her any answers. Phil, on the other hand, chases after Santos to try to find a way to rescue her. Instead, he discovers something quite unexpected on the other side.
Just like Vol I, this book has twist after twist as the plot dives forward. I did find this plot to be less gruesome and more battle of the wits as everyone tries to capture each other. To that extent, it wasn’t as thrilling as the previous book, but I still enjoyed where the plot led to.
My main critique for this one was similar character names. I got Cam and Cameron mixed up a few times. There were a couple of others who just had too similar names. This led me to pause a few times and try to remember who was who and who had done what.
Overall, I enjoyed this book, and I’m interested to see what happens to the characters in Vol III.
