HERE ARE THE 13 ORIGINAL QUESTIONS
1. What is your favorite thing about the fall season?
I get an excuse to wear beanies/hats more! I have a bunch of nerd ones and silly ones (like a Sheikah one and a bean on a beanie). It’s too hot in Texas to wear them any other time. This is to say I do this when fall actually hits Texas. I’ve had Halloweens where it was in the 90s and others where ice was on the ground. It’s always a hit or miss around this time.
I love Daylight Savings Time as well. I find it interesting to repeat an hour. Kind of feels like time traveling.
A lot of things people like about the fall—like wrapping up in warmer clothes—I already do. I have Raynard’s disease, so I end up with hoodies and blankets a lot.
2. Pumpkin spice? Yes or no?
I’m not a fan of it, but that means more for you.
3. What is your favorite Halloween movie?
Halloweentown. I loved when those movies came on when I was younger, especially the first one.
4. When you were a kid, what was your favorite Halloween costume?
So, I never dressed up as anything scary except for one year when I was a witch. My favorite though was either Mulan or when I was super little and dressed up as a Dalmatian.
I honestly don’t remember any other year.
5. What is your favorite trick-or-treat candy?
Hershey’s chocolate and regular M&Ms. But I also like Tootsie Rolls and red lollipops because I usually don’t get them any other time of the year.
6. Do you like haunted houses?
I do! They’re pretty cool. I don’t find them scary or anything like that but rather interesting.
7. How old were you when you stopped trick-or-treating?
Probably in middle school, around twelve or thirteen. Life got busy, and a lot of houses stopped giving out candy.
8. If you have kids, what were their first Halloween costumes?
I don’t have kids. I asked my mom though, and she said my first Halloween costume was Pooh.
9. What is your favorite fall activity?
It’s hard to do fall activities in Texas. But I do like wrapping up in blankets and eating candy. Haunted houses are cool.
10. Do you believe in ghosts?
I do!
11. Have you ever seen one?
No, but I may or may not have been around one twice. Here’s the scoop:
My first college dorm was Bruce Hall. In the 1950s or so, a student named Wanda got pregnant out of wedlock. She couldn’t get an abortion because *gestures toward Texas*. So, she ended up trying to give one to herself and died in the process. People have heard her throughout the years, and she has become quite the legend around campus.
I may have ran into her twice.
Once, I was at the second floor’s community restroom. When I walked in, I noticed I was alone since it was eerily quiet. I also saw no feet or shoes underneath the shower or bathroom stalls. I chose the same stall as I always did.
About two minutes later, a toilet about three stalls down decided to flush on its own. No one could’ve flushed it. I don’t remember those being ones who could flush with movement since it was an older dorm. Even if it was, I’m pretty sure a fly couldn’t set it off.
Me, tired from college work, said, “Wanda, stop it.”
She did.
The second time was in the middle of the night. I usually have multiple lucid dreams a night, so I wake up a few times. While half asleep, I saw my desk lamp move and float in the air out of the corner of my eye. I reached up to stop it, and I hit it.
My desk lamp had little pockets to hold different office materials like push pins, paperclips, etc. So, as soon as I hit it, everything tilted and spilled all over my bed and the floor.
But my desk lamp was not close enough to the edge for me to hit it and for it to fall onto the floor. I also always had to lean over to reach it from my bed, but I didn’t do that while half asleep. So, I’m still not 100% sure what happened.
12. Have you ever been in a haunted place? (a real haunted place, not a Halloween haunted house.)
If you count my dorm from the question above, yes. If not, nope. I have talked to my papa before about going ghost hunting years ago, but we’ve never been.
13. What does your family do to celebrate Halloween?
Not much. We buy Halloween candy for ourselves and for kids and hand them out.
One of my friends, Sponsel, puts out a lot of decorations at his house. Me and a few other friends got dressed up once and tried to scare the kids. Got a few of them. But that was pre-covid.
here are the Two Extra Questions
1. Do you carve pumpkins?
I used to when I was younger, but I haven’t in a long time.
2. Favourite horror movie?
I’ve seen five horror movies once each: The Conjuring, The Conjuring 2, Us, Get Out, and It. I’d say The Conjuring 2 is my favorite out of those three since it’s the one I remember liking the most after seeing it.
