I found that I’m better at achieving my goals if I write them down and then check back on them later. So, in December, I wrote down some goals that I’m going to go through now.
Kind of. I have been applying to publishing jobs since January, but I haven’t made it in-house. I’ve attended countless webinars and read books over it as well. It turns out that you have to apply the day they post the job or the hirers won’t get to your resume. For one job, they can get up to over a thousand applicants.
So, instead, I’ve been working on freelancing. I launched Dragon Editing Services in May, and it has been going well so far. I got onto three directories already, including Reedsy.
I have done this!
I polished it up in January and February. Right now, it’s with a developmental editor, which I hope will go well.
I haven’t done this one yet, but I did set a goal to send out more of my work. I’ve been submitting on Submittable two to three times every month. I haven’t had any luck yet, but I’m hoping that it will go well eventually.
I encourage you to do the same. Is there a goal you already finished that you’re proud of? Is there a goal you still want to accomplish? Are there some small steps that you can use to build toward that goal?
Wishing y’all the best on accomplishing everything.
A wonderful idea Robin … although I have no specific goals this year … I might think about doing another book of my poetry… maybe a “Tullawalla II” … haha, I’m still recovering from my ‘First” one…

lol That’d be a good idea! Take your time though. Doing a poetry book is a lot.

Excellent post, Robin. Preparation, which is another word for dedication, will meet opportunity sooner or later. It always does.

I sure hope it meets opportunity sooner rather than later.
