Top 9 fantasy books I’ve read so far

I thought this would be a fun post to do. According to Goodreads, I’ve read over 430 books. I’ve been keeping track of them since 7th or 8th grade. So, this could be a cool post to see which ones have stood out the most in the past ten years.

Now, the books won’t be in order of top nine; they’re going to be random. That’s because I can’t actually pick a number one favorite. It depends on the day. If it’s in a series, I’ll list the whole series, so you know it’s not a standalone.

Also, why nine? I like odd numbers.

The Sight by David Clement-Davies

One of my favorite animals is wolves, so of course I read a book where the main character is a wolf. I actually read the second book before the first since I didn’t realize it was a series. Fell is my favorite.

The Young Elites by Marie Lu

I love the progression of the main character, Adelina. It was a wild ride to see where she started and where she ended up. She’s a survivor and a strong fighter, but sometimes, she doesn’t always stay on the right path. I enjoyed the whole series, but I’m going to have to say that the second book, The Rose Society, is my favorite.

The Sisters Grimm Series by Michael Buckley

I enjoyed reading these books when I was younger. They’re kind of like Sherlock Holmes meets Once Upon a Time but back in 2005. I can’t remember which book is my favorite out of the series.

The Heroes of Olympus by Rick Riordan

I prefer this series to Percy Jackson and the Olympians purely because of Leo. He’s my favorite character that Rick has made so far. He controls fire and rebuilds a dragon. My favorite book in the series is the first one, The Lost Hero.

Skinjacker Series by Neal Shusterman

This series starts off in a strange way—the two main characters died within the first handful of pages. But that’s also where the story begins since they get lost in Everlost, which is a type of limbo. I loved this series, but the first one, Everlost, stuck out to me the most.

The Heir Chronicles Series by Cinda Williams Chima

I read these years ago. I enjoyed the worldbuilding, and they were one of my first fantasy books that I read. The Dragon Heir was my favorite if I remember correctly.

I thought the series ended there, but apparently another book came out about five years later. I’ll have to go back and continue the series.

HP Series by She Who Must Not Be Named

Despite She Who Must Not Be Named being a terrible person, her books still impacted a lot of us. My mom and I read the whole series together to help get my reading level up for school. My favorite is the third one, Prisoner of Azkaban, because of Buckbeak and the time turner.

The Infernal Devices Series by Cassandra Clare

This series is the prequel to The Mortal Instruments. I connected with the characters more in this series. My favorite is the first one, Clockwork Angel, with the last one, Clockwork Princess, as a close second.

Reflection by Elizabeth Lim

Mulan is my favorite Disney princess, and I love the representation in this book. Not only did an Asian writer write it, the book also incorporates Chinese underworld mythology.

If you have any suggestions for me to read, leave a comment down below! I love learning about new books, especially those in one of my favorite genres.
