Try not to laugh

You try not to laugh
at the words coming out of my mouth
cause life isn’t simple like that

You know every blank
and say what you think
while I talk into an ever-growing void

But maybe it’s less that I’d like to get to know you
and more that I wish I was you

You try not to laugh
at the boundaries that won’t stop
building over my mind

They never wanted a female to get that far
and dang it, they got it
while I tear myself apart

But maybe it’s less than the daydreams
and more about my real dreams
Maybe it’s less that I’d like to get to you
and more that I wish I had the same chances as you

You’re such a wonder
but I know you think less of yourself
cause you have a little me in you

We’re strangers who will never meet
but a part of us play the same song
cause the world isn’t so far apart

But maybe it’s less than the insecurities
and more that I wish the world knew

I am more than a pretty face
