Get To Know Ya Book Tag

I found this book tag over on My World Of Books blog, and I thought it would be a fun one to do. I hope you enjoy!

FAVORITE BOOK(S) OF ALL TIME

I have too many books that are my favorites and what I would consider ‘a book of all time.’ I’ll run through a few by you.

The Book Thief is one of my all time favorites. I recommend it a lot to anyone I can. This one is honestly one of the first books that made me feel empty and weird after reading it like I didn’t quite belong back here on Earth.

It also reminded me why I love reading.

It’s Kind of a Funny Story was one of the first stories I read that had such a big plot around mental health. It didn’t seem like it was going to be much of a story, but it ended up having a huge impact on me.

Years later, I still even overhear others recommend this book too.

I liked The Mortal Instruments series, but I liked the prequels better (which start with Clockwork Angel). For some reason, seeing where everything came from, back in the late 1800s, was more interesting. The story didn’t focus on a sappy love story as much as The Mortal Instruments did as well. I mean, a love story was there, but I felt like it was more in the background and less chaotic.

I also connected more to these characters.

I have a list of more awesome books here.

FAVORITE BOOK(S) FIVE YEARS AGO

That would be…2015? I was still in high school by this time March. Geesh.

Looking back on what Goodreads said for that year, I read a lot of Cassandra Clare. I would even get my Mom to go all the way to North Park, so I could get one of her books. But I’ll mention some others that I was big into as well.

Marie Lu was starting to compete with Cassandra Clare for my attention by this time. I loved Legend, but The Young Elites is such a better story than Legend. I felt more connected to the characters.

I also love that the main character started out a hero, but was she really a hero?

In middle school, the Unwind series was one of my favorite series. So, when the story continued, I had to keep going. I always liked Neal Shusterman’s writing style. The whole concept for the Unwind series was more thrilling than anything else I’ve ever read.

Unsouled was a great addition.

FAVORITE DUOLOGY / TRILOGY / SERIES

Duology: Warcross

Trilogy: The Young Elites and The Infernal Devices

Series: The Mortal Instruments and Unwind Dystology

Can you see my fantasy and sci-fi trend yet?

I read many different genres (including poetry, creative non-fiction, YA, and more), but I’ve always had a heart for fantasy and sci-fi.

LAST BOOK(s) I READ

Fun fact! I just finished The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People: Powerful Lessons in Personal Change, Gatekeeper, and All I See is Part of Me all on the same day.

LAST BOOK OF POETRY I READ

Last poetry book I read was Gatekeeper. It’s a poetry book all about the dark web, which I found interesting. It had some visually pleasing experimental poetry as well. I enjoyed this one.

WHAT BOOK INFLUENCED MY LIFE

I have a whole list of them.

BOOK THAT MADE ME UGLY CRY

To be honest, I’ve never cried because of a book. I’m not sure whether or not that makes me heartless. But it’s hard for me to cry in real life too. I’m not much of a cryer.

BOOK THAT MADE ME LAUGH

So many books have made me laugh. A lot has to do with the fact that I like books with sarcastic characters. One of those books is the Witch & Wizard. But there are so many others, including:

CHARACTER THAT I’D LIKE TO BE FOR A DAY

I think I’d like to be Emma Carstairs for a day. She’s a strong character who never stops no matter how much the world tries to bring her down. I also like the Shadowhunter world.

BOOKS SO GOOD THAT I DREAMT ABOUT IT

From what I remember, I haven’t had a book that I dreamt about. But I’ll keep you updated.

BOOK THAT I DID NOT FINISH

Now, I must admit. I’m too stubborn.

I’ve never not finished a book. I may have skimmed a book until the end, because I wasn’t interested in reading it anymore. But I still finished them all.

BOOKs I AM EXCITED TO READ

I haven’t been able to pick up Rebel yet. I keep seeing it on the bookshelves. I want to read it so much.

I also have other books like Once Upon a Dream and We Want Our Bodies Back that I’m looking forward to.

I just checked though, and I have over 200 books on my to-read shelve. I might need to start on that soon.

I hope you enjoyed this book tag! Have a great day!
