After editing your query letter to the best it can be, it’s time to find literary agents. Here are some tips on how to find some:
Acknowledgements section
Find books that are similar to yours, and go to the acknowledgments section. Writers thank their literary agent there most of the time, especially if the agent is good.
QueryTracker and AgentQuery
QueryTracker and AgentQuery are websites that help writers find agents to represent them. You can see what genres they represent and what books they’ve worked on before. Most of the time, I hear writers talk about QueryTracker more than AgentQuery.
Literary agencies’ websites
Literary agencies—companies literary agents work for—will list their agents and submission requirements online. Here are some:
- Andrea Brown Literary Agency
- Curtis Brown, Ltd
- David Black Agency
- Folio Literary Management
- Harvey Klinger Literary Agency
- Janklow & Nesbit Associates
- Laura Dail Literary Agency
- MacGregor Literary
- New Leaf Literary
- Sandra Dijkstra Literary Agency
- The Knight Agency
- Writers House
Hope this helps!
